Malachite is found with copper deposites and often is combined with azurite or chrysocolla. In about 4000B.C. it was the first material to be smelted. It was reduced to copper by heating in a very hot fire.This process was the beginning of the metal industry. Fraudulent beads being sold are a white gemstone dyed to look like malachite or a combination of azurite with malachite.
